PRIMAL 2 VS. PRIMAL 3 OVERVIEW

Balanced Weight Distribution
The increased overall outsole width ensures that your body weight is spread out more evenly, reducing the pressure points on your feet. This even weight distribution enhances comfort during various activities. For those with lower arches and flat feet, you will find that this is a big improvement. But for those with high arches, you may feel very little, to no difference.

Enhanced Outsole
The Primal 3 is made with our Widest Fit Last, just like the Primal 2. The difference is that we developed a new outsole on the Primal 3 with a wider footprint for more ground contact underneath the foot.

Higher Sidewalls
When examining the Lems Primal 3 from a lateral view, you may notice a visual difference — the sidewalls now wrap up higher on the sides. This is a deliberate design choice aimed at improving both fit and lateral stability. The higher side walls provide a snugger fit around the contours of your feet, cradling them comfortably.

I needed to size up for width, but they're great boots!
These are versatile, beautiful, practical, and comfortable boots once you get the sizing right! I wear them every day for almost every purpose. The style is perfect for anything except formal occasions, and the traction, structure, and flexibility is perfect for anything except specialized performance needs. They're structured enough for hiking, but I feel light and "springy" enough on my feet to sprint in them as well.
I do have a couple minor complaints, but they're not enough to drop from 5 stars to 4:
* The relatively fine-grained tread design does tend to get a bunch of mud and tiny rocks jammed up into the thin gaps after I walk in the yard (unless the ground is frozen), and they require a knife or similar to clean out even when I'm spraying water at the tread in the sink. Hopefully that won't be a year-round problem.
* The "speed hooks" for lacing actually slow me down compared to shoes that I can just keep laced and loosen/tighten, but I'm told they provide greater ankle stability or something. If so, that's worth the minor inconvenience.
Sizing notes:
The sizing chart and official recommendations for leeway indicated that I should choose size 11 for my foot length, but I initially sized up to 11.5 to accommodate my wide feet (borderline between 3E and 4E). That still wasn't wide enough with or without the insole (but especially with it), but Lems quickly serviced an exchange for a size 12, and these work perfectly! Very Comfortable cold weather boots...
They feel broken in the second you put them on and are very comfortable to walk in. Due to the waterproof nature though, your feet will get too warm if the temps are above 40 fahrenheit. Because of this, these will only get used in winter and all other seasons I'll wear my Lems primals. I bought my usual size and they fit perfect.
