About the Author

Alun Biggart has spent most of his life exploring the benefits of natural movement — starting with running barefoot whenever possible as a child.

He later studied Exercise Physiology at the University of Glasgow, developing a deep understanding of how the human body moves, adapts, and performs best when allowed to function naturally.

In 2006, Alun began working with Vibram FiveFingers, helping introduce one of the world’s original barefoot shoe brands to Denmark. This experience placed him at the forefront of the minimalist footwear movement in Europe and sparked a long-standing passion for shoes designed around the natural shape and function of the foot.

In 2015, Alun met Andrew Rademacher, the founder of Lems Shoes, and immediately recognized something special. Lems combined the principles of barefoot design with exceptional comfort and everyday versatility — quickly becoming, in his view, some of the most comfortable barefoot shoes on the planet.

Today, Alun continues to advocate for natural movement and healthy footwear through his work with Lems Shoes EU. When possible, he still prefers to go barefoot — but when shoes are needed, you’ll almost always find him wearing Lems or FiveFingers.

Through his writing, Alun shares insights on foot health, natural movement, and the philosophy behind barefoot footwear, helping more people rediscover the comfort and freedom their feet were designed for.
